Occasionally, we come across “extended care” patients needing further assessment and treatment beyond the clinic outreach consultations. This can be range from basic tests such as blood tests and x-rays, to minor or major operations ranging from a basic tooth extraction to major hip replacement procedures. We currently have seven surgeons offering their services for free to assist such patients. Our role is to assist with the nurse care as well as all the logistics involved in extended care until such a time that the patient is discharged.
